Meet Captain John

John grew up on the Key West docks. His great-great-grandfather commercial fished these reefs in the 1890s, and every generation since has passed down the spots, the tides and the tricks. He's held his USCG Master Captain's license since 2008 and has run more than 3,000 charters out of Oceans Edge Marina.

What sets John apart isn't just experience — it's the way he tailors every trip. First-time family? He'll set you up on light-tackle snapper the kids can actually reel in. Serious tournament crew? He'll rig kites for sails and put you on the leaderboard. Same boat, same captain, completely different day.

The Heavy Hitter's Story

John bought the Heavy Hitter — a 2015 34' Contender center console — brand new and has customized her every year since. Twin Yamaha 300s, a tournament-grade Simrad electronics stack, live wells and a T-top rigged for outriggers make her one of the best-outfitted center consoles in the Lower Keys.
